“I just want to be a warrior maiden and go on adventures. I don’t want to fall in love, especially not with George or Jon. They’ll ask me to give them parts of me. I want to keep me for myself. I don’t want to give me away.”
Alanna taught me so much about myself growing up. What it meant to be strong, to work hard for something you really wanted and to fight for what you believed in. She was a driven character that could weather any punishment and fought evil in the darkest, deepest places. A girl afraid of love and intimacy that grew into a woman as equally strong as any man and capable of warmth and affection.
Alanna taught me that it was okay to be strong, beautiful and fierce. That it was okay to want to be different, to want better for yourself and to never, ever stop fighting.
